This website is for displaying pictures of my 1/8 scale Radio Controlled (R/C) F4U Corsair WWII warbird. As you can see, it is only finished on one side. This is how it will be.

Since this is only finished on one side, this model will not be flown but will be for static display. I built it like this for several reasons:

1. I needed experience building before I started a more complicated airplane.
2. I could practice techniques on this model in preparation for my next one.
3. I want to show anyone interested in modeling what it looks like to start and finish a plane.

What really stuck with me was one day when I was at an airshow. Several local clubs displayed their RC inventory under a tent. People passed along and commented on how it was neat to see the inside of the plane and how it worked. Many had never seen that before. One gentleman came in and was escorting a blind man. It was emotional for me to watch this man feel his way around my Corsair. I will never forget the expressions on his face. He went over every inch of the plane. It's almost as if I could see inside his mind as he was piecing the parts together to get a mental image. It was the reason I built her the way I did - to share my love of building with others.

The specifications for this model are:

Wingspan: 62 inches
Wing area: 700 sq. in.
Finished Weight: 7-9.5 lbs.
Wing loading: 23-31 oz/sq ft.
Fuselage Length: 48.5 in.
Recommended engine: 2 stroke=.61-.91 cu. in., 4 stroke=.91-1.20 cu. in.
Radio: 4-7 channel with 4-8 servos

I live in Mooresville, IN. which is just outside of Indianapolis. I occasionally fly in my back yard or from a private field 5 miles from home.
